World Press Photo exhibition
JAKARTA (JP): The Erasmus Huis on Jl. H.R. Rasuna Said, South Jakarta, will host the annual World Press Photo exhibition from Feb. 19 to March 6.
The Royal Netherlands Embassy announced yesterday the unique traveling exhibition showed the winning pictures of the worldwide annual press photography contest. "It is brought to Jakarta with the support of the Erasmus Huis."
Minister of Information Harmoko is scheduled to open the 200 picture exhibition.
The first prize winner in the 'Singles' category, Indonesian photographer Sholihuddin of Surabaya-based Jawa Pos daily, will attend the opening.
The exhibition is mounted each year in about 65 places in 35 countries, subject to the condition that all prizewinning entries are exhibited without censorship.
The World Press Photo Foundation is an independent platform for international press photography founded in 1955. This platform manifests itself in the annual World Press Photo of the Year Contest and the corresponding yearbook and exhibition.
