World Press Photo 2002 in Yogyakarta
YOGYAKARTA: A photo display and a discussion on press photos, the media and humanity are part of the program for World Press Photo 2002, to be held at the Vredeburg Fort Museum in Yogyakarta from June 16 through June 22.
Organizers said in Yogyakarta on Tuesday that the discussion, scheduled for June 20, will focus on the works displayed at the exhibition, which were drawn from among the best pictures at this year's World Press Photo Contest.
Nearly all the world press photos, showing the various events that took place around the globe in 2001, have been published by news agencies in different countries.
Speakers at the discussion, which will spotlight the journalistic, ethnophotographic and cultural sides of the press photos, include Yogyakarta's Independent Journalists Association chairman Raihul Fadjri, Nadheer Bulletin chief editor Devi Ardhiani and ethnophotographic researcher Muhammad Zamzam. --Antara
