World increasingly divided, Prabowo stresses Pancasila as Indonesia's guiding principle
President Prabowo Subianto stressed that Pancasila is a unifying ideology for the nation and must serve as a guiding principle for Indonesia amid today’s increasingly divided world.
During his speech at the Pancasila Birth Anniversary ceremony held at the Pancasila Building in Jakarta, Prabowo stated that Pancasila is a grand consensus.
“Pancasila is a grand consensus. A national agreement that allows our nation, consisting of thousands of islands, hundreds of ethnic groups, hundreds of languages, and diverse cultures, to live as one nation,” Prabowo said on Monday, 1 June 2026.
He also reiterated that this forms the basis of this year’s Pancasila Day theme: ‘Pancasila as the Unifier of the Nation and Foundation of World Peace’.
He elaborated on the profound meaning of the chosen theme.
“Amid a world increasingly divided by conflicts, geopolitical rivalries, trade wars, and economic uncertainty, Indonesia has a firm foundation. That foundation is Pancasila,” the President said.
Prabowo emphasised that Pancasila is not merely a historical document but a guide for national, societal, and state life.
“Brothers and sisters, Pancasila is not just a historical document. It should not merely be a slogan we utter during ceremonies,” Prabowo said.
“Pancasila is a guideline for managing national life, societal life, state life, including how we build our national economic system,” he added.
