World in Turmoil, Prabowo Grateful: Our Region is at Peace

President Prabowo Subianto addressed the current global situation while virtually attending the groundbreaking of the Abadi Masela Liquefied Natural Gas National Strategic Project in the Tanimbar Islands Regency, Maluku Province, from the Merdeka Palace in Central Jakarta on Thursday. Prabowo stated that the world is currently full of uncertainty. “Full of conflict, tension, even war everywhere, and we are still grateful that our region is in a state of peace,” he said. Prabowo also expressed gratitude for the legacy of Indonesia’s founding fathers, noting that Indonesia essentially has no enemies. “Alhamdulillah, we have now established good relations with all our neighbours, and we are determined that this is our stance: we are friends with all our neighbours, we respect all countries in the world, the big, the biggest, the strong, the strongest, as well as the small, and perhaps the not so strong,” said Prabowo. “This is our blessing, this is something we must appreciate. With this condition, we are friends with all countries; in this condition, we are open to all partners, all countries that want to enter Indonesia, want to partner with Indonesia, want to work together for mutual benefit. This is our attitude,” he continued. However, the Chairman of the Gerindra Party said that Indonesia has now matured. Indonesia’s leaders are not foolish, naive, or cowardly. “There are indeed parties who always look down on the Indonesian nation, who always underestimate the Indonesian nation, who always mock the Indonesian nation behind our backs, indeed,” Prabowo stated. Perhaps, he continued, because of the goodness of the Indonesian nation and the friendliness of a people who are so friendly, Indonesia is considered weak, relaxed, and lazy. “That the indigenous people’s hobby is sleeping. In fact, our people struggle hard every day to seek a decent living. Those who sail the seas to find food, to find fish, risk their lives. Everywhere, our people work hard,” said Prabowo. “But if the climate is so hot, the wisdom of our ancestors teaches us to avoid the heat during the blazing sun. There are nations that do not see our people getting up very early, some going to the fields, fetching water, gathering wood, hunting, going to sea in the dark, and returning also in the dark,” he continued.
