World Environment Day: Pramono Appreciates Call to Use Public Transport
Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has expressed his appreciation for movements and calls to use public transport, stating that the culture of using public transportation must be continuously built by all parties. This was conveyed by Pramono during the launch of the ‘Insan Astra Ayo Naik Transum Jakarta’ programme at Menara Astra, Jakarta, on Thursday (5/6/2026), coinciding with the commemoration of World Environment Day.
The programme is part of Astra’s support for various initiatives by the Jakarta Provincial Government to realise a greener, more sustainable, and inclusive city. “I express my appreciation to Astra as a company with a long history and significant contribution to Indonesia, which today is participating in the campaign to use public transport in Jakarta. This step is expected to have a positive impact and serve as an example for other companies to collectively support the culture of using public transport in Jakarta,” said Pramono.
Astra President Director Rudy stated that the programme is a form of participation in encouraging the culture of public transport use while strengthening collaboration with various stakeholders. Through this programme, Astra employees are encouraged to utilise various modes of public transport for their commutes to and from the office. As a form of support, a cashback programme is also provided through the AstraPay application, which is integrated with public transport services, including Transjakarta and MRT Jakarta.
In the field of sustainability, Astra is also implementing its ‘2030 Sustainability Aspirations’ launched in 2022. This programme includes various sustainability targets, ranging from reducing greenhouse gas emissions and increasing the use of renewable energy to reducing water intensity, increasing solid waste recycling, and community empowerment through the Astra Prosperous Village programme. To date, more than 1,500 villages across 35 provinces have been mentored, benefiting over 3 million people, and helping village products reach international markets with an export valuation of Rp411 billion.
