Workshop on infectious diseases opened

JAKARTA: The U.S. Naval Medical Research Unit No. 2 based in
Jakarta is sponsoring a training workshop on infectious disease
outbreaks.

The workshop will be held from Wednesday till Oct. 18 on Nias
island, North Sumatra under the auspices of the U.S. embassy in
Jakarta.

The 10-day program will be carried in partnership with the
Indonesian National Institute of Health Research and Development
(NIHRD) along with experts from the Ministry of Health.

The workshop is intended to provide 36 participants with
practical training opportunities, using outbreak experiences from
throughout Sumatra.

The participants will comprise a variety of public health
interests, including health professionals from the Ministry of
Health and experts from the Indonesian Military (TNI). --JP
