Workplace Burnout Does Not Occur Suddenly
Companies are considered to need earlier detection of fatigue symptoms within the work environment before they develop into burnout and encourage employees to leave the organisation.
Ivan Ahda, Director of Strategic & Advisory at KTM Solutions, stated that burnout does not appear suddenly, but rather develops gradually due to various conditions formed within the environment and work patterns.
“When burnout continues to recur, perhaps what we need to look at is no longer just the individual, but also the environment and the way of working that shapes their daily lives. This is where well-being needs to shift from merely personal well-being to an organisational responsibility,” Ivan said during the Indonesia Human Capital & Beyond Summit (IHCBS) 2026 in NICE PIK 2, Tangerang, yesterday.
According to him, the handling of burnout has often focused on an individual’s ability to manage stress, increase resilience, and maintain work-life balance. However, this approach is deemed insufficient if the factors triggering fatigue actually originate from the system, environment, or work patterns within the organisation.
Ivan noted that companies need to identify various conditions affecting employee well-being so that preventive measures can be taken before fatigue develops and impacts both employees and organisational sustainability.
This issue was discussed by KTM Solutions through a session titled ‘The Burnout Audit: Detecting Organisational Fatigue Before Turnover Occurs’ during the IHCBS 2026, which took place on 15-16 September 2026.
In this forum, KTM Solutions also introduced the Career Well-being (CWB) approach to assess an individual’s well-being throughout their career journey. This approach covers five dimensions: social, psychological, environmental, physical, and financial well-being.
Attendees of IHCBS 2026 can participate in the CWB Assessment to obtain an overview of their career well-being based on these five dimensions. KTM Solutions believes that attention to career well-being is necessary so that organisations do not only focus on productivity but are also able to create a work environment that supports sustainable employee contributions.
