One of the priority programmes of the President of the Republic of Indonesia is the People’s School, and this programme is the result of collaboration with previously running community empowerment programmes, such as the Family Hope Programme.

Pamekasan (ANTARA) - Social Minister (Mensos) Saifullah Yusuf conducted a working visit to Pamekasan Regency, East Java, on Sunday, to review the implementation of the People’s School and social assistance, including the Family Hope Programme (PKH), in the area.

“One of the priority programmes of the President of the Republic of Indonesia is the People’s School, and this programme is the result of collaboration with previously running community empowerment programmes, such as the Family Hope Programme,” said Social Minister Saifullah Yusuf during the event.

The Social Minister directly checked the implementation of the programme by matching the updating of recipient data based on the National Single Socio-Economic Data (DTSEN), which is an integrated database system in Indonesia containing social, economic, and welfare level information for the entire population, based on NIK (Population Identification Number).

The Social Minister emphasised that data updating is the main focus, where the Integrated Social Welfare Data (DTKS) is now transforming into DTSEN.

The event, held at the auditorium of the State Islamic University (UIN) Madura, titled “Collaboration of Priority Programmes in Building Human Resources towards Economic Independence,” was attended by social workers and PKH companion officers in the area.

The Social Minister explained that previously, there were suspicions that around 40 percent of social assistance recipients were not on target.

“This was discovered from findings by PKH companions in the field who stated that among the recipients of assistance, there were capable individuals,” said the Social Minister.

Therefore, data refinement is important, he said, so that all government-planned assistance is on target.

He explained that the People’s School aims to facilitate poor and underprivileged citizens to continue their education.

“In its implementation, this programme also collaborates across agencies and ministries, including with BPS,” said Social Minister Saifullah Yusuf.

At the end of the event, Social Minister Saifullah Yusuf took photos with PKH companions, People’s School students, and village operators present at the event.
