Working Visit to Lampung: Gus Ipul Emphasises Accurate Data for Social Assistance
Social Affairs Minister Saifullah Yusuf, or Gus Ipul, emphasised that social assistance (bansos) must be targeted accurately while also fostering community self-reliance. To this end, updating the National Single Social and Economic Data (DTSEN) has become the government’s top priority.
According to him, the quality of the National Single Social and Economic Data (DTSEN) must be continuously strengthened so that government interventions are truly targeted and optimal. Gus Ipul conveyed this during the Presidential Priority Programme Collaboration event aimed at Building Human Resources Towards Economic Independence in Lampung Province. The event took place at the Semergou Building, Office of the Mayor of Bandar Lampung.
“We update (DTSEN) together, we strengthen the human resources for updates, especially collaboration between village data operators with RT, RW, and elements within villages or wards. We will also work with our social pillars, one of which is the PKH companions,” said Gus Ipul in a written statement on Saturday (25/4/2026).
He stated that solid data forms the primary foundation for effective social protection policies to operate.
“First, the data must be accurate so that social assistance is targeted correctly. Second, the social assistance received by the community must empower,” said Gus Ipul.
He emphasised that social assistance must not stop at mere distribution. Assistance must be followed by empowerment steps so that beneficiary families can improve their welfare and achieve economic independence.
Gus Ipul acknowledged that social assistance distribution still faces challenges because some recipient data is not fully up to date. However, the government continues to consolidate to ensure social assistance is targeted.
“So in the last year, we have truly carried out consolidation, (by) redirecting from those who do not meet the criteria to those who do. Therefore, updates from regions and villages are important,” explained Gus Ipul.
To support DTSEN updates, the Ministry of Social Affairs has prepared two data renewal channels: formal and participatory. In the formal channel, the public can report to RT/RW to apply for data updates through village SIKS-NG operators, wards, or social services.
Proposals are then discussed in village or ward deliberations, followed by ground checks or verification by PKH companions and social services, then determined by the regional head.
Meanwhile, in the participatory channel, the public can submit suggestions and objections through the Cek Bansos application, PKH companions, Command Centre 021-171, and WhatsApp service 08877-171-171.
All proposals from both channels are subsequently verified by BPS for re-ranking and updated periodically every three months. In line with the Social Affairs Minister’s directives, Deputy Mayor of Bandar Lampung Deddy Amrullah stated that the city government will support DTSEN updates.
“What was conveyed by the Minister earlier is our note regarding data issues, we will follow up immediately,” said Deddy.
