Working Underground, Vice President Gibran Quietly Inspects MRT Tunnel
Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, inspected the MRT Phase 2A project site from Harmoni to Sawah Besar in Jakarta on Tuesday (12/5/2026).
CNBC Indonesia’s observations at the location showed Gibran conducting the inspection while wearing full personal protective equipment (PPE), from a helmet to a neon green vest with the MRT logo.
Gibran carried out this inspection together with Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung, Transport Minister Dudy Purwagandhi, and MRT Jakarta President Director Tuhiyat.
During the inspection, Gibran walked with Pramono and Dudy from CP202 Sawah Besar Station to CP202 Harmoni Station.
Throughout the inspection, the three also exchanged brief conversations at the location.
On this occasion, Vice President Gibran praised Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung’s policies on public transport management.
“Thank you, Governor, for your commitment to the development of MRT and LRT,” said Gibran, Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia.
Gibran also stressed that providing safe, comfortable, and integrated public transport is one of the main priorities in President Prabowo Subianto’s administration.
He believes that good quality facilities will encourage public interest in switching from private vehicles.
For information, this project will connect Bundaran HI Station, which is part of Jakarta MRT Phase 1 (Lebak Bulus-Bundaran HI), with Kota Station.
PT MRT Jakarta targets the first segment from Bundaran HI to Monas to be completed and operational by the end of 2027, while the subsequent segment to Kota is targeted for completion in 2029.
