Working in Batam on visitor visas, six foreigners detained

The Batam Special Class I Immigration Office for TPI on Monday (13/4) announced the results of Operation Wira Waspada 2026, securing six foreign nationals consisting of five Chinese citizens and one Malaysian citizen, who are suspected of violating residency and work permit provisions in Batam. Immigration is still investigating allegations of visa misuse, including the use of visa on arrival for work, and if proven, the foreign nationals face sanctions up to deportation in accordance with applicable regulations.
