Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The working group on the Asset Forfeiture Bill will begin holding meetings on its substance on 5 November 2026. With discussions getting under way, the bill is targeted for passage before December, according to Ahmad Sahroni, Deputy Chairman of Commission III of the House of Representatives (DPR RI).

“On 5 November, if I’m not mistaken, there will be a working-group meeting chaired by Mr Habiburokhman. After that things may move faster; hopefully it will be completed before December,” Sahroni said at the parliamentary complex, as quoted by Detikcom on Thursday (29 October 2026).

Commission III has appointed its chairman, Habiburokhman, to lead the working group on the Bill on the Forfeiture of Assets Related to Criminal Offences. Soedeson Tandra, a member of the Golkar Party faction in the DPR, has been appointed deputy chair.

Habiburokhman, a legislator from the Gerindra Party faction, said the appointments were made after Commission III held an internal meeting with its leaders and faction-group heads at the DPR building on Monday (26 October 2026). At the meeting, they agreed on the working group’s leadership to continue deliberations on the bill.

“Secondly, at the meeting between the leadership and the faction-group heads, we agreed to appoint me, Habiburokhman, as working-group chair and Mr Soedeson Tandra as deputy chair,” Habiburokhman said.

According to the DPR website, in addition to appointing the working-group leaders, Commission III agreed to accelerate the bill’s deliberation schedule. One measure is bringing forward public-hearing meetings, which had been scheduled for the next parliamentary sitting period, to the current recess.

The acceleration is intended to meet the target of completing deliberations on the Asset Forfeiture Bill by 15 December 2026 at the latest. Habiburokhman said the process would involve various members of the public to gather views and input on the draft legislation.

“The purpose of bringing the schedule forward is to ensure that the bill can be passed by 15 December 2026 at the latest,” Habiburokhman said.
