Workers Wear Prabowo-Designed T-Shirts at May Day at Monas, Here are the Visual Details
JAKARTA - Cream-coloured T-shirts emblazoned with “May Day 2026”, designed by President Prabowo Subianto, added vibrancy to the International Labour Day commemoration at the National Monument (Monas) area in Central Jakarta on Friday (1/5/2026). The T-shirts were worn by hundreds of workers participating in the May Day event at the location. Based on observations, the T-shirt design features silhouettes of six blue-coloured figures clenching their fists towards the sky. On the right and left sleeves, images of the red and white Indonesian flag, measuring approximately 7x5 centimetres, are visible. Meanwhile, on the back, the text “May Day 2026” is printed again in a combination of red and blue colours. The difference is that the back is dominated by red and white with some blue accents. “The ones printed with May Day 2026 without any labour union logo are the design from Mr President,” said Elly when confirmed by reporters on Friday. Previously reported, participants in the May Day event at Monas were indeed planned to wear T-shirts directly designed by the President. According to Andi Gani, the initiative for making these T-shirts came directly from President Prabowo during their meeting in early March 2026. “In early March, the two of us met the President for almost 4 hours. And he asked about the preparations for May Day, and he did not want the workers to get too hot,” said Andi Gani during a press conference in Menteng, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday (29/4/2026). Andi then asked about the form of support intended. President Prabowo then suggested providing T-shirts that could be worn by workers during the May Day commemoration. Not only that, the President also gave direct instructions regarding the design, from the colours to the text on the T-shirts. “There will be words of struggle on the back. And the colours will mostly contain red and white. Then the T-shirt colour, I can reveal, it’s cream, with blue and white,” explained Andi Gani.
