Workers' protection
Workers' protection
From Republika
Fatalities often happen when high-rise buildings are being
constructed. The latest accident occurred on Feb. 4, 1996,
killing two workers who fell from the 13th floor of the
Darmawangsa apartment building.
Earlier, a worker died when he fell from the fifth floor of
the Pangrango Hotel, and two died when they fell from the 25th
floor of Red Top apartment building. Another four workers died
when they fell from the 16th floor of the Aryaduta Hotel. Four
more workers died after falling from the 10th floor of the Villa
Permata Hospital. All these accidents obviously caused great
concern and deep grief. Who will take care of their families?
Negligence causes these accidents. Workers who work on
multistoried buildings should tie themselves in. Workers should
be given life insurance to protect their families.
