Workers need safety and peace
Workers need safety and peace
From Neraca
During this era of reform, Indonesia is facing the reality of increasing unemployment and rapidly spreading poverty. Nevertheless, we are trying hard to be dedicated in our work in order to meet the requirements of life.
We have participated in the reform movement with the hope of improvement in our future standard of living. Now, after half a year of reform, our dedication to work is troubled by feelings of insecurity and danger resulting from the increasingly heated conflicts in the circles of the political elite.
So, we wish to convey a moral message to the political elite, asking them to put an end to their conflicts. We appeal to the Armed Forces to be consistent to their noble duty of safeguarding this nation's order and security. We do not want to be suppressed, and we need a quiet and peaceful atmosphere -- not this present radicalism -- to work toward the smooth running of this country's economy.
