Workers mobbed by students

JAKARTA (JP): More than 20 junior high school students mobbed three construction workers for allegedly stealing one of the students' money on Jl. Kramat Sentiong in Central Jakarta on Saturday.

Central Jakarta Police Chief Lt. Col. Abubakar Nataprawira said that the police detained one of the alleged thieves, identified as Joko Prasetyo, 20, a resident of Bekasi, West Java.

"The other two, identified as Rodiwik and Jaka, are still at large," he said.

He said the men asked the students for money. They then threatened to beat Teddy, one of the students, and stole Rp 20,800 (US$8.85) from him.

Teddy's friends decided to fight back. One of the men, Joko Prasetyo, fell down when trying to escape.

The students then turned Joko in to local police. (jun)
