Workers, bosses reject bill

JAKARTA: Around 100 workers and employers held a rally on Wednesday against the social security bill, demanding that the state pay the contributions to any such expanded scheme.

The rally took place in front of the national legislative complex in Senayan.

Indonesian Employers Association (Apindo) secretary-general Djimanto said that the bill, if enacted, would increase the burden on both employees and employers as it envisages the premiums being partly deducted from employees salaries and partly paid for by their employers.

The bill is slated to be endorsed before the current House's term ends on Sept. 30. --Antara
