TANGERANG (JP): The body of Wiwin Widianingsih, 22, an
Indonesian woman who had been working in Saudi Arabia, arrived at
Soekarno-Hatta International Airport on Saturday afternoon after
three weeks of uncertainty.
Wiwin was found dead on July 27 by her employer, Hamud Abdul
Azis, after falling from his house.
"We did not believe when she was reported to have killed
herself, while there was no explanation for why she would commit
suicide," Wiwin's mother, Masriah, told reporters on Saturday at
the airport.
"In her recent letters, Wiwin told us that her employer often
asked her to give him a massage, but she refused to do so," she
said, declining to give details of the letters' contents.
Wiwin's employer initially wanted her to be buried in Saudi
Arabia, but the family insisted that the body be brought back
home. Her body was eventually flown to Jakarta at the employer's
expense.
The director general for training and employment at the
Ministry of Manpower, Din Syamsuddin, said on Saturday that the
Indonesian Embassy and the Indonesian Workers Agency in Saudi
Arabia have launched an investigation into the matter.
"We'll bring the case to court if evidence shows that a crime
has occurred," Din said.
"It's about a person's life. It cannot be measured with
money."
The family planned to bury the body at their home in
Pelumbansari village in Karawang regency, West Java. The date has
not been announced. (41/edt)
