Worker killed by lightning

BEKASI, West Java (JP): A construction worker died here on Friday after being hit by lightning as he sheltered under a makeshift shanty during a downpour.

Nurdin, 26, a resident of Kedawung village, Tambun, was working on a Puri Asri housing construction project.

He was badly injured by the lightning and was taken to Bekasi general hospital for treatment.

A doctor in charge at the hospital said Nurdin had died before he could receive any medical treatment.

Relatives took his body from the hospital to be buried in his village. (kod)
