Worker dies from electrocution

JAKARTA: A 27-year-old welder planning to marry later this year died on Tuesday from electrocution in Sunter, North Jakarta.

Suratman, who was electrocuted on Monday when he was working, was rushed to state Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital. He died early on Tuesday morning.

An autopsy by hospital morgue staff revealed that parts of his body had been burned while the cause of death was ruled as electrocution.

The victim's brother, Marsono, said the welder from Purbalingga, Central Java, came to Jakarta to make money to finance his wedding, which was scheduled to be held after the Idul Fitri holidays in December.

"Our family was preparing for his wedding at home, but now it's all been for nothing," Marsono said.--JP
