The Cirebon Regency Government is still awaiting regulations from the central government regarding work from home (WFH).

“Until now, we are still waiting for the official regulations from the central government on WFH,” stated Assistant for General Administration of the Cirebon Regency Regional Secretariat, Hadi Suryaningrat, on Thursday (26/3).

Hadi explained that the Cirebon Regency Government is waiting for official regulations from the central government before implementing a similar policy in the region.

However, in principle, Hadi continued, the Cirebon Regency Government is ready to adapt if the policy is officially enacted. He emphasised that the implementation of WFH must still ensure optimal public services. “If there are official regulations later, we will certainly follow them up. However, the most important thing is that services to the public must not be disrupted,” he said.

In addition, if the WFH policy is reimplemented, clear technical arrangements will be needed in every regional apparatus. His side is currently preparing technical regulations for the implementation of WFH if the central regulations are in place. Such as a rotating work system and the utilisation of digital technology.

“It is likely to be arranged on a rotational or hybrid basis, so that services continue to run. In addition, the use of digital systems must also be maximised,” Hadi stated.

As is known, the central government is preparing a work from home (WFH) policy for civil servants (ASN) and private sector workers as a response to the rise in world oil prices due to the conflict in the Middle East region.

Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Airlangga Hartarto, said the WFH scheme is planned to be implemented for one day per week. However, the technical implementation is still in the preparation stage. The duration of the policy will be flexible, adjusting to global developments, including oil price dynamics and geopolitical conditions.

Airlangga revealed that the plan has received a positive response from President Prabowo Subianto. The WFH policy is seen as capable of increasing efficiency, particularly in curbing fuel oil (BBM) consumption due to reduced daily mobility of the public. “The potential energy savings are estimated to reach around 20 percent,” Airlangga stated.

In addition to the WFH policy, observers emphasise the importance of government spending efficiency, particularly in major programmes.

All regional apparatuses are asked to ensure that services to the public continue to run normally during the implementation of WFH, especially in service units that directly interact with the public.
