The government, through the Ministry of Manpower (Kemnaker), has issued regulations governing the implementation of work from anywhere (WFA) for civil servants (ASN) during the period surrounding the Eid al-Fitr holiday in 2026. This policy is being implemented to help optimise public mobility during the Nyepi holiday and Eid al-Fitr celebrations.

The WFA provisions are detailed in Ministerial Circular M/2/HK.04/II/2026 concerning the implementation of work from alternative locations for employees in companies during the Nyepi and Eid al-Fitr holiday periods in 2026.

Schedule for WFA Implementation Among Civil Servants

Under these regulations, WFA for civil servants is to be implemented on the following dates:

  • Monday, 16 March 2026

  • Tuesday, 17 March 2026

  • Wednesday, 25 March 2026

  • Thursday, 26 March 2026

  • Friday, 27 March 2026

Between these dates, public holidays fall on 18 and 19 March 2026, designated as joint leave and the Nyepi holiday. Additionally, the period of 20-24 March 2026 is designated as the Eid al-Fitr joint leave and national holiday.

Provisions for WFA Implementation Among Civil Servants

According to the Ministerial Circular, the following provisions apply to WFA implementation:

  • WFA is to be implemented on 16-17 March 2026 and may be extended to 25, 26, and 27 March 2026, taking into account business requirements and considering potential increases in return holiday traffic following Eid al-Fitr celebrations.

  • WFA may be exempted for specific sectors including healthcare, logistics, transport, security, hospitality, shopping centres, manufacturing, food and beverage production, other essential sectors, or sectors related to maintaining production continuity.

  • WFA is not to be counted against annual leave entitlements.

  • Employees implementing WFA continue to carry out work according to their duties and obligations.

  • Remuneration during WFA is provided in accordance with wages normally received at the regular workplace or as contractually agreed.

  • Working hours and monitoring of work performance during WFA are to be determined by employers to maintain employee productivity.

These provisions govern the implementation of WFA for civil servants during the period before and after the Nyepi and Eid al-Fitr holidays in 2026.
