Work Culture Deemed a Key Factor in Boosting Company Performance
A healthy and inclusive work culture is increasingly becoming a crucial factor in building a sustainable organisation. Amidst the competition to attract and retain top talent, companies are required not only to offer competitive compensation but also to provide a work environment that fosters engagement, a sense of belonging, and employee trust in management.
This commitment has once again led Cinépolis Cinemas Indonesia to achieve the Great Place To Work 2026 Certification for the second consecutive year. This achievement also makes the company the only player in Indonesia’s entertainment industry to consistently receive this recognition.
The Great Place to Work certification is awarded based on a direct survey of the work experience of employees across Cinépolis Cinemas Indonesia’s entire network, which includes 58 cinemas and a head office spread across 38 cities.
The survey results showed an improvement in several indicators compared to the previous year. The Great Place to Work Statement score reached 86%, up from 84% in 2025. Meanwhile, the overall average for the Great Place to Work model and all survey statements each reached 81%, an increase from 80% the previous year.
Several indicators even recorded results that exceeded the industry average. A total of 92% of employees said they felt welcomed from the moment they joined the company, higher than the industry average of 82%. Additionally, 91% of respondents stated that all employees are treated fairly regardless of race, and another 91% felt that management consistently provides information about important issues and changes occurring within the company.
The survey also showed a high level of pride in the company. As many as 90% of employees stated they are proud of the organisation’s achievements, while 89% of respondents felt that management has a clear direction regarding the company’s goals and the strategy to achieve them.
Chief Executive Officer of Cinépolis Cinemas Indonesia, Alejandro Aguilera Garibay, said the recognition is significant because it comes from the real experiences of the employees. “This recognition is very meaningful because it reflects the voice and real experiences of every person on our team. A great workplace is not built solely through policies, but through trust, respect, collaboration, and a sincere commitment to putting people first. At Cinépolis Cinemas Indonesia, we believe that taking care of our team is the foundation of the extraordinary experience we deliver to every guest,” Alejandro said in a press release received on Tuesday (23/6).
According to Alejandro, the company continues to strengthen its work culture through various programmes, ranging from structured orientation for new employees and on-the-job training to regular cross-functional communication. These steps are taken to ensure every employee has the opportunity to grow and can contribute optimally.
These findings align with various studies showing a close relationship between the quality of the work environment and employee engagement. Based on research by Great Place to Work, job seekers have a 4.5 times greater chance of finding a good boss at a company that has obtained this certification. Furthermore, employees at certified companies are 93% more likely to feel enthusiastic about their work. They also have twice the chance of receiving fair compensation, obtaining a proportional share of company profits, and having equal promotion opportunities.
