Work begins on Cikunir-Tanjung Priok toll road

JAKARTA (JP): Minister of Public Works Radinal Moochtar drove
the first pillar for the construction of the turnpike linking
Cikunir in Bekasi, East Java, and Tanjung Priok in North Jakarta
on Saturday.

The 19.2-kilometer Cikunir-Tanjung Priok road is part of the
60-km Jakarta outer ring toll road.

PT Citra Bhakti Margatama Persada is charge of the
construction of the Cikunir-Tanjung Priok toll road.

The consortium consists of PT Jasa Marga, the state-owned
highway corporation, PT Citra Lamtoro Gung Persada, PT Tridan
Satriaputra Indonesia, PT Baskara Duniajaya and Tiara Indah
foundation.

Siti Hardiyanti Rukmana, the consortium's president, also the
eldest daughter of President Soeharto, said on Saturday that the
Rp 600 billion project is expected to be completed in four years.

She said that land appropriation for the project was not yet
completed. "We expect to have the land appropriation completed
next year. Land appropriation will not be a problem to us because
we offer compensation based on the market price of the land."
She declined to reveal how much land owners will receive per
square meter of land.

The new toll road, with two junctions, five interchanges, 12
bridges, eight on and off ramps and 47 toll gates, is designed to
be 28 meters in width.

The Cikunir-Tanjung Priok toll road is expected to facilitate
transportation of people and goods to and from the Tanjung Priok
harbor, Mrs. Rukmana said.(29)
