Woodward in town for driving demo

JAKARTA (JP): Driving skills play a major role in winning golf match as English golfer Karl Woodward might prove in a one-day demo at Pondok Indah Golf and Country Club, South Jakarta, this morning.

Woodward, whose best drive of 365 yards (333.8 meters) will appear in the Guiness Book of World Records next year as the longest ever, promised on his arrival Thursday night that he would delight Jakarta's golf enthusiasts with his driving.

Woodward drove a ball to the world's longest mark in the Greg Norman LEAF Classic in Boca Raton, Florida, on April 27 this year. The ball rolled on 13 yards further after touching the grass. He used a 45-inch, average club 7 shaft-extrashift made by Goldwin, the golf equipment company sponsoring his Indonesian tour. (amd)
