Wonosobo Balloon Homecoming Festival 2026 to be held at 23 locations; schedule released

The Wonosobo Regency Government will again hold the Wonosobo Balloon Homecoming Festival 2026, which will run from 22 to 29 March 2026. The annual festival will be staged at 23 location points spread across various areas of Wonosobo Regency, Central Java. This event is the result of collaboration between the Dinas Pariwisata dan Kebudayaan Kabupaten Wonosobo and the Komunitas Balon Wonosobo as an effort to conserve the balloon tradition that has long been part of the local culture. Fahmi Hidayat, head of the Dinas Pariwisata dan Kebudayaan Kabupaten Wonosobo, said the festival is not only an attractive spectacle but also a cultural heritage that must be preserved. “Festival Mudik Balon Udara is not merely a spectacle, but a cultural heritage that we continue to safeguard and preserve. All activities start at 06:00 WIB, so we urge residents and travellers to come early to witness the balloon flights optimally,” he said. In addition, the festival is expected to boost local economic circulation, especially during the Lebaran holiday period when the number of travellers to Wonosobo increases.
