Women's Involvement in Empowerment Programmes Receives Full Support

The Ministry of Women Empowerment and Child Protection (PPPA) has expressed appreciation for the expanded benefits of the Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) programme through three initiatives in the fields of social inclusion, education, and economic empowerment.

Pelindo’s three programmes include the distribution of assistive devices for persons with disabilities, the deployment of ‘Port Captain Inspirasi 2026’ volunteers to frontier, outermost, and least developed (3T) regions, and the provision of business facilities for MSME entrepreneurs.

Women’s involvement is evident in the implementation of these programmes. Out of the 20 Port Captain Inspirasi 2captains 2026 volunteers being deployed to Banda Aceh, Garut, Sumbawa, and Ambon, 16 are women. Furthermore, of the 53 MSME entrepreneurs receiving business facility assistance, 41 are women. Pelindo also distributed assistive devices to 25 persons with disabilities, eight of whom are women.

The Deputy for Gender Equality at the Ministry of PPPA, Amurwani Dwi Lestariningsih, praised the involvement of women in the TJSL programme. According to her, opening access and opportunities for women is a vital part of encouraging them to become more independent while contributing to their families and society.

“We appreciate the provision of space for women to be involved and benefit from various empowerment programmes. When women gain access and opportunities to grow, the benefits are felt not only by themselves but also by their families and the surrounding environment,” Amurwani stated in a written statement on Tuesday, 8 September 2026.

Pelindo’s Corporate Secretary, Benny Ariyadi, stated that while the three programmes have different targets, they share the same spirit: expanding access and providing opportunities for the community to become more self-reliant.

“Our TJSL programmes are designed to address community needs concretely. There are persons with disabilities who require support to increase mobility, communities in 3T regions who need access to education and health, and MSME entrepreneurs who need facilities to develop their businesses. Ultimately, it all culminates in how we open access and opportunities so that the community becomes more empowered,” he said.

According to Benny, the significant involvement of women in the MSME and Port Captain Inspirasi programmes demonstrates that women play a strong role, both as beneficiaries and as drivers of change.

“We see that women play an important role, not just as beneficiaries, but also as drivers of change. Therefore, Pelindo wants to ensure that TJSL programmes provide equal opportunities for women to grow, increase independence, and provide broader benefits for both their families and their environment,” he added.
