Jakarta — Indonesia Setara Foundation (YIS) together with Gebrakan Anak Negeri (GAN) held a workshop at Mall Basura in Jatinegara, East Jakarta on Wednesday, 11 March 2026. The activity was attended by approximately 50 housewives with the aim of opening business opportunities for homemade dried cakes ahead of Eid.

During the activity, participants received training in processing taro waste and banana stems into gluten-free flour. This flour was used to make various dried cakes, such as peanut butter cookies, green onion crackers, nastar, and gluten-free brownies chips.

YIS Founder Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno explained that the training was part of efforts to empower the community, particularly women. The goal is to equip them with skills that can support economic independence.

“Generating income ahead of Eid, when women open home-based businesses, is absolutely perfect timing,” said Sandiaga in a press statement in Jakarta on Friday, 13 March 2026.

In addition to teaching food product-making skills, participants were also introduced to artificial intelligence (AI) technology in a practical manner to help with product marketing. The activity also served as a platform for building networks amongst micro, small, and medium enterprise (UMKM) actors.

“So this activity is to open business opportunities through viral food products that are in high demand during Eid season,” said Sandiaga.
