Women Flock to Cheap Staple Food Redemption Programme in Bandung; PAN Says It Helps People Observe Ramadan
Residents of Sukamenak Village, Margahayu District, Bandung Regency, West Java participated in a discount staple food redemption activity as part of the PANsar Ramadan programme held in the area.
The programme was organised by Ahmad Najib Qodratullah, a member of Commission XI of the Indonesian House of Representatives from the National Mandate Party (PAN) faction. The activity was attended by local residents who redeemed essential goods at prices lower than market rates.
“This activity is a task from my party chairman who is also the Food Coordinating Minister (Zulkifli Hasan),” he said in Bandung on Monday, 9 March 2026.
He explained that PAN faction members of the House of Representatives were asked to set aside part of their income to support the implementation of the programme during Ramadan. He stated that the activity was aimed at helping the community meet their basic needs during the Islamic holy month and leading up to Eid al-Fitr.
“PANsar Ramadan can help communities widely in carrying out the sacred worship of Ramadan and also the Eid al-Fitr celebration,” he said.
The activity held in Sukamenak Village was attended by local residents, most of whom were housewives. They came to redeem packages of essential goods provided in the programme.
“Community members said they were helped by the PANsar Ramadan discount redemption activity, especially in meeting their household needs during Ramadan,” he added.
