Woman wounded by high school student

JAKARTA (JP): A 33-year-old woman was severely wounded in the forehead and right elbow on Monday after being struck with a machete by a senior high school student.

In a report to the police, Eng Sian, a widowed mother of one, revealed that Komara, alias Kokom, 17, became angry after she refused his demand for money.

The assault took place at Eng Sian's apartment in Asparindo building at Kawi-Kawi Atas in Central Jakarta.

The victim, an employee of Ambassador Mal in Central Jakarta, was admitted to Cipto Mangunkusumo General Hospital at noon before being moved to the Army's Gatot Subroto Hospital in the evening.

Kokom, who lives near Eng Sian's apartment, was picked up by the police for questioning in the afternoon.

Police, who would not speculate on the relationship between the two, are continuing their investigation. (01)
