I met with an illegal woman worker in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, by
the name of Tarmilah. She is from Cirebon, West Java. Still in
her teens, she admitted that she was sent to Saudi Arabia by PT
Apida Aviaduta, whose office is on 37 Jl. Hankam, Pondok Gede,
Bekasi, West Java.

As she was not able to communicate with her employer, Tarmilah
was frequently treated rudely which led her to flee her employer
penniless and, moreover without a passport. She wished to return
to Indonesia because she could no longer bear the pains she had
to suffer.

I found Tarmilah roaming about in King Abdul Aziz Airport in
Jeddah on Oct. 31. I took great pity on her but I was unable to
help her. I did give her some money to take a taxi to
Madinantuhujaj, where women workers were being temporarily housed
while awaiting deportation to Indonesia.

I talked about the matter with PT Apida Aviaduta on Nov. 1
hoping that they would do something about it. I wish her luck.
