Woman with tumor needs financial aid

PALU, Central Sulawesi (JP): A woman whose face has been covered with a tumor, the size of an avocado, for 21 years needs Rp 10 million to have the tumor removed.

Sapiah Ramli, a 41-year-old native of Malosa village who makes a living as menial laborer to feed three children, is too poor to have her tumor operated on, Antara said.

She has been cast out by her family and her husband has left with her youngest child.

The tumor, which stems from the center of Sapiah's forehead, has pushed aside her eyes to the edge of her face, the report said.

Awaluddin, one of her relatives, said that Sapiah is scheduled to have surgery on Aug. 14 and hopes to have enough money collected by then.

A military officer, Col. Bambang AS, said that he would try to raise the funds through donation boxes for Sapiah. (14)
