Woman Who Repeatedly Refused to Pay for Food Finally Arrested and Apologises
A woman who had frequently gone viral for refusing to pay for food and online ride-hailing services was finally arrested at a fast-food restaurant in the Hayam Wuruk area, Gambir, Central Jakarta, on Thursday, 26 February 2026.
The arrest was carried out by officers from the Service, Monitoring and Social Control Task Force (P3S) of the Central Jakarta Social Service Office (Sudinsos) with assistance from the Civil Police Unit (Satpol PP).
A video of the arrest of the woman, identified as Nani, went viral on social media on Friday, 27 February 2026. Based on footage uploaded by the Instagram account @jabodetabek24info, Nani could be seen apologising to an officer and attempting to prostrate herself.
“I’m sorry sir, I know all of that isn’t allowed,” said Nani whilst placing her hands together and lowering her body to the floor to prostrate. The officer then asked her to stand, but Nani requested that the incident not be shared online. “Sir, please don’t share this online,” she said.
In the same video, officers from the Civil Police Unit and other agencies were seen questioning the woman. During the interrogation, officers highlighted the absence of her national identity card (KTP) and requested her cooperation throughout the examination process.
When arrested, Nani was wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt and glasses, and carrying a sling bag. The restaurant staff immediately reported the incident to the P3S Task Force at the Central Jakarta Sudinsos.
“They came to the location after receiving a report that the woman had taken food belonging to other customers,” said Ilham when contacted by Kompas.com on Friday. “Since the P3S officers didn’t have an operational vehicle and were only using motorcycles, she was escorted by a group to Kebon Kelapa Village,” he added.
