Woman who attempted to end her life near Palace still receiving treatment
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief Kombes Pol Reynold E.P. Hutagalung stated that the woman who attempted to end her life near the Presidential Palace is still receiving treatment at the hospital. “At that time (during the incident on Sunday, 22 March), she was immediately handled and has been receiving care at Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital (RSCM) until now,” Reynold said in Jakarta on Tuesday. According to him, during the incident, officers at the location immediately tried to calm the victim to prevent her from making a rash decision. In addition, Reynold continued, the officers also endeavoured to provide a sense of security to the victim so that she could be prevented and taken to Central Jakarta Metro Police for a health check. After the victim was deemed cooperative, she was then taken to RSCM for further examination and psychological assessment. “We are trying to coordinate with RSCM for the victim’s further and psychological examination,” he said. On Sunday (22/3), a woman with initials JS was suspected of intending to end her life, as a rope intended for use by the victim was found at the scene. At that time, officers managed to thwart the victim’s action, and she was immediately taken to Central Jakarta Metro Police for examination. From circulating videos, the victim is suspected to be depressed, but to date, the cause is unknown because the victim is still undergoing intensive treatment at RSCM.
