Woman nabbed for possessing ecstasy

DENPASAR, Bali: A 32-year old woman, claiming to be an Australian was arrested by police at her residence on Jl. Mertasari in the Kerobokan area on Friday for alleged possession of ecstasy pills.

The Denpasar police detectives chief Comr. Cahyo Budi Siswanto said that police found ten ecstasy pills stashed inside a cabinet in the bathroom of the house where Linda Jordan was staying.

The house is just a few kilometers north of Bali's well-known Kuta holiday resort.

Officer Cahyo said that Jordan had told detectives that she was an Australian.

But, the Australian Consul in Bali, Ross Tysoe, in a phone conversation with The Jakarta Post on Friday evening stated that he couldn't confirm Jordan's claim yet.

"I can't confirm it until I meet the person. I am not saying that I am not aware of this incident, but in accordance with the privacy restriction policy, I can't disclose any details until I meet with the person," Tysoe said.

Cahyo said that the arrest of Jordan was initiated by the arrest of Gusti Putu Lokia also hours earlier in Kuta. The 32- year-old man was found possessing nine green ecstasy pills, which he claimed to be from Jordan. (zen)
