Woman jailed for chocolate bar

BANDUNG, West Java: A 30-year old woman has been forced to spend nearly a week in the Regol police precinct's cell for allegedly stealing three chocolate bars worth Rp 6,000 from a local supermarket.

The woman, identified as Bebeh Djubaedah, was detained by a security guard at a supermarket on Jl. Kepatihan over the weekend and was then handed over to police for further investigation.

Antara reported that Bebeh took the chocolate and hid it under her brassier because she did not have enough money to pay for it.

The woman claimed that she had been wondering around in the city for three days trying to locate the address of her relatives. She came to town to visit her sick relatives but finally ran out of money and decided to steal the chocolate.

Regol Police chief Sr.Insp. Nurchali confirmed the arrest of Bebeh and said police are investigating the case. (dja)
