JAKARTA – A woman who frequently went viral for allegedly not paying for ride-hailing services and food at various locations across Jakarta has been arrested by authorities and referred to a regional mental health hospital (RSKD) for mental health examination.

The woman was detained after taking food belonging to a customer at a fast-food restaurant in the Hayam Wuruk area of Central Jakarta. The incident was recorded and circulated on social media on Friday (27 February 2026).

According to a post from Instagram account @jabodetabek24info, the woman entered the restaurant and took food belonging to one of the customers present at the location. She then left without making payment.

The affected customer reported the incident to the restaurant management. Restaurant staff subsequently confronted the woman and coordinated with local authorities.

“The person in question was secured at the village office overnight. We then conducted a preliminary assessment, and it was indicated and confirmed that her name is Nani Sitorus,” said Agus when contacted by Kompas.com on Friday.

According to Agus, the initial assessment results showed indications of mental illness, leading authorities to refer her to Duren Sawit RSKD.

“Because there are indications of mental illness, we referred her to Duren Sawit RSKD. The RSKD focuses on mental health and related matters. For now, she has been transferred to the RSKD,” he explained.

Agus emphasised that the assessment remained indicative and pending further medical examination.

“The determination will ultimately come from the medical professionals. However, given that she is causing disturbance and concern to the public, we took action. For a person considered mentally sound, this behaviour would not be expected,” said Agus.

“Therefore, we suspect this is connected to mental health issues, which is why we referred her to Duren Sawit RSKD. But this does not mean I am diagnosing her as mentally ill; it is based on the indications of her behaviour,” he added.

Zahra (22), a staff member at the food stall, recounted how the incident began when the woman sought shelter at the establishment during heavy rain.

“It was raining, so I tilted the chair in front because of the rain to prevent water from getting on it. Then suddenly I heard a ‘thud’ sound. I looked to see what it was, and she had suddenly sat down there,” Zahra said when met by Kompas.com at the location on Tuesday (24 February 2026).
