A woman in Grogol Petamburan, West Jakarta, named Lenny became a victim of fraud in a padel racket business scheme, suffering losses totalling 300 million rupiah.

“The perpetrator is a woman with the initials FR, aged 26 years old. We arrested her on Saturday, 7 March 2026,” said Kanit Reskrim (Criminal Investigation Unit Head) of Grogol Petamburan Police Precinct, AKP Alexander Tengbunan, as reported by Antara news agency on Thursday (12 March 2026).

The case began when the perpetrator contacted Lenny via WhatsApp message. Perpetrator FR claimed to be an old friend of the victim and offered a business partnership to sell padel rackets.

Their communication intensified until the perpetrator asked Lenny for assistance to act as an intermediary in the business. Lenny subsequently transferred 300 million rupiah to the perpetrator.

However, following the money transfer, there was no clarity regarding the business being offered. Lenny then reported the case to Grogol Petamburan Police Precinct.

Alexander stated that perpetrator FR was arrested in Langkat, North Sumatra. Investigation results revealed that FR merely held the money belonging to Lenny.

FR’s husband, according to Alexander, is suspected to be the mastermind of the fraud scheme and had previously served prison time for drug-related offences.

“That is where he met an online fraud group,” he explained.

Nevertheless, the victim chose a family resolution approach after FR expressed the intention to return the 300 million rupiah obtained through the fraud. The case was subsequently settled through restorative justice after the victim recovered her money from the perpetrator.

“This victim preferred to have her money returned. At that time it was immediately resolved, she was offered ‘do you want to settle this? If you do, please have it transferred,’ and it ended there,” Alexander said.
