Woman in Tangerang sprayed with caustic liquid, cries for help as she endures burning sensation

Tangerang – A woman was the victim of being sprayed with caustic liquid by unidentified individuals (OTK) in the Pasar Pagi area, Parung Kored, Karang Tengah, Tangerang City, on Saturday, 17 May 2026. The victim screamed in distress and asked for help after being doused with the liquid. ‘I’m still inside, and I can hear cries of distress,’ local resident Siska told Kompas.com at the scene on Tuesday, 19 May 2026. She said the victim immediately went to the bathroom to wash off the liquid while continuing to plead for help. ‘She was in distress, screaming and asking for help,’ she said. The clothing shopkeeper then gave the victim a spare garment to wear. ‘Her clothes were torn, as if burned, so the shop gave her a replacement top,’ she added. The victim was reportedly just returning home and about to look for something to eat. However, Siska suspected there might have been a clashes between motorbike gangs in the area. She could not confirm the exact origin of the clash or the number of perpetrators. After the incident, the victim filed a report with the Ciledug Police Station, and the following day police conducted a crime-scene examination (TKP).
