Woman in Sukabumi Struck by Train While Fetching Water, Falls into Ravine

A tragic fate befell Een Suhaeni (50), a resident of Kamandoran Hamlet, Karangtengah Village, Cibadak District, Sukabumi Regency. The housewife died after being clipped by the Pangrango train on the Sukabumi-Bogor route, falling into a ravine beside a crossing some 15 metres high.

As reported by detikJabar on Monday (7/9/2026), the incident occurred at Km 40+700 on the Cisaat-Cibadak section, on Sunday (6/9), shortly before the Kamandoran Hamlet pedestrian bridge. Daeng Sutisna, Operations Centre Manager of the Sukabumi Regency Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), explained that the incident began when the Pangrango train departed from Sukabumi Station for Bogor Station.

As the train was travelling at speed through the Karangtengah area towards Cibadak Station, the victim was found to be on the tracks. She is believed to have been collecting clean water and was unaware of the schedule of the train about to pass.

“When the Pangrango train passed, the victim tried to get out of the way. However, because the distance was already too close, she was clipped by the train and fell over the side of the crossing, which is around 10-15 metres high,” said Daeng.

Local residents who witnessed the incident immediately reported it to the Karangtengah Village Government, the Babinsa of Koramil 0607-11/Cibadak, Cibadak Police and the P2BK of Cibadak District. Joint personnel from the police, the TNI, BPBD and residents went straight to the scene to carry out the evacuation. The steep terrain beneath the bridge made the evacuation process time-consuming.

“The victim was then evacuated using the hearse of Kodim 0607/Kota Sukabumi to Sekarwangi Regional Hospital for further medical treatment,” added Daeng.
