Woman in South Central Timor Named Suspect After Killing Husband with Shockbreaker

Housewife Yuliana Tefa has been named a suspect in the assault that killed her husband, Musa Misa, in Oinlasi Village, South Amanatun District, Timor Tengah Selatan Regency, East Nusa Tenggara.

“She has been named a suspect,” said South Timor Tengah Police Criminal Investigation Unit Head AKP I Wayan Pasek Sujana to detikBali on Tuesday (25/8/2026).

Wayan explained that the 56-year-old woman is charged under Article 44 Paragraph (3) of Law Number 23 of 2004 on the Elimination of Domestic Violence, which carries a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison.

Yuliana is currently being held at the South Timor Tengah Police headquarters for further legal proceedings. Police have also detained her for the next 20 days at the same facility.

“We detained her starting today. The main motive is that they often fought and the husband frequently threatened to kill his wife,” Wayan explained.

Musa Misa was previously reported dead after being assaulted by his wife, Yuliana Tefa, with a shockbreaker. South Timor Tengah Police Chief AKBP Kristyan Martino said the domestic violence incident occurred on Monday (24/8/2026) at around 4:00 am local time. Initially, the 56-year-old woman was sleeping in her home.

Shortly afterwards, Musa arrived in a state of intoxication from alcoholic beverages. He suddenly uttered harsh words and scolded Yuliana, threatening to kill her.

According to Kristyan, Musa had repeatedly engaged in similar behaviour. Yuliana, enraged, then grabbed a shockbreaker from the bedroom and struck her husband with it.

Yuliana’s blows targeted Musa’s head repeatedly until he died at the scene. After killing Musa, Yuliana did not flee. She remained at her home until police arrived.

“The suspect showed a cooperative attitude when officers arrived at the scene,” Kristyan told detikBali on Tuesday (25/8/2026).
