Woman in Merauke Successfully Expands Business and Improves Family Economy Through BRILink Agency

Business opportunities often emerge from the courage to try something new. Such was the experience of Risya Naifah, a micro-entrepreneur in Merauke District, South Papua.

Starting with a small fashion business, she has successfully expanded her venture into a BRILink Agency. She has complemented this with a kiosk in the form of a minimarket that provides various financial transactions as well as daily necessities for the surrounding community.

Approximately three years ago, in 2023, Risya decided to join as a BRILink Agent partner. The decision arose after she observed many residents in her area having to travel considerable distances to conduct banking transactions, such as transfers or cash withdrawals.

“Initially, I was running a fashion business. But then, I chose to open a BRILink Agency business. The registration was quick and the staff made things easy for us all, as long as the requirements were met. Within a week of opening, residents were already interested and coming to my place to conduct transactions. Many found out from neighbours or from other residents who had already transacted here,” Risya explained.

Over time, the number of residents coming to conduct transactions has steadily increased. Risya acknowledged that income from the BRILink service has gradually helped improve her family’s economic situation. From what was initially a simple business, she has now managed to expand her operations and open a minimarket at the same location, allowing people who come to transact to also meet their daily needs.

As a result, her business location has become not only a financial service transaction point but also a place for residents to shop for various household necessities. “In a single day there can be dozens of transactions, especially transfers. Many also come to look at the minimarket and then buy daily necessities. Alhamdulillah,” Risya said.

During her time operating as an Agent, she reported that business operations have run smoothly without significant obstacles. For her, the presence of BRILink Agency has not only opened new business opportunities but also provided direct benefits to the community in her surroundings, who can now transact more easily without having to travel far to the bank.
