Woman in Ciputat Found Dead on Her Porch, Guarded by Her Dogs

A woman with the initials S (54) was found dead ‘alone’ at her home on Jalan Bukit Cirendeu Raya, Pisangan Urban Village, Ciputat District, South Tangerang. The victim was found lying on the porch of her house.

Ciputat Police Chief Commissioner Bambang Askar Sodiq said the victim was discovered by residents on Sunday (30/8/2026) at around 7.18 p.m. Western Indonesia Time. Police arrived at the scene after receiving a report from the public through the National Police 110 call centre.

‘It seems (the victim) was mopping the house and residents heard someone fall. After residents checked, it turned out a woman was lying there and was likely already dead,’ Bambang explained in his statement on Monday (31/8).

Residents had come to check on the victim’s condition. However, because the house fence was locked, they contacted the 110 call centre.

‘They wanted to help (the victim), but it turned out there was a pet dog in the house, which meant the team needed time to secure it,’ he said.

The supervisory officer and duty personnel from East Ciputat Police then arrived to follow up on the report. Police subsequently evacuated the victim’s body.

‘When the supervisory officer and duty personnel arrived at the scene, they found a woman lying on the floor who had already died,’ he said.

Bambang revealed that when officers arrived at the location, they found the victim’s two pet dogs watching over her body. The two dogs were sitting right beside the victim’s remains.

‘So the body was being guarded by her two dogs. The dogs seemed loyal. There were two dogs, one had a lead attached but it was loose, the other was unleashed without a lead, but both were off their restraints,’ he explained.

Police needed half an hour to enter the house, as the dogs barked when officers tried to go in.

‘Eventually the former caretaker of the house, who already knew the dogs, was brought in. The dogs were then herded inside first, after which we closed the door and could evacuate the body,’ he said.

Bambang noted that the victim had been living alone in the house. The body has now been handed over to the family.

‘According to witness statements, the victim lived alone in the house. The victim’s child declined an autopsy,’ he added.

Bambang said there were no signs of violence on the victim’s body. The victim is believed to have died from illness.

‘According to the community health centre doctor, she died from a heart attack, while according to the family the deceased had a history of acute acid reflux,’ he concluded.
