Woman Held Captive by Taufik Hidayat Now Able to Speak, Albeit Limited
Police have arrested Taufik Hidayat (30), the perpetrator who held a woman, YTR (29), captive in Bandung for three years. The victim’s family is demanding that the suspect receive the heaviest possible punishment.
YTR is currently still undergoing intensive care at Hasan Sadikin Hospital (RSHS) in Bandung. Her condition has begun to show improvement.
The victim’s lawyer, Januar Solehuddin, said the victim and her family were enthusiastic about the news of the arrest. However, the victim’s family still harbours feelings of anger over the sadistic acts committed by the suspect.
"At first, they were actually angry, you know, upset. Oh, really upset. But there is also gratitude, alhamdulillah, that he was arrested," Januar said.
He stated that the victim is currently continuing to show good progress while undergoing treatment at RSHS in Bandung. According to him, the current condition is different from when the victim first arrived at the hospital on 10 June 2026.
"Alhamdulillah, she can now speak, albeit in a limited way. I mean, at first there were things that were unclear, but if repeated they became clear. Now her condition is very clear and has improved, alhamdulillah," he revealed.
"They want true justice. In the sense that he should be punished as severely as possible," he added.
