A woman, identified as YTR (29), was allegedly abused and held captive by her boyfriend, TH, for three years in his rented room in the Cileunyi area of Bandung Regency, West Java. YTR burst into tears when a doctor and family members attempted to ask about the cause of the injuries covering her face and head. The victim’s sister, Melanie Silviani, said that initially her sister claimed she had fallen in the bathroom. However, over time, YTR finally admitted she had been tortured. “When the doctor asked what caused her injuries, she cried and said she fell in the bathroom. Then after a while, she said she was tortured,” Melanie revealed. Melanie suspects her sister initially covered up the incident due to severe trauma regarding the perpetrator. The victim was reportedly afraid of receiving even worse violence if she dared to tell what really happened. “At first she wasn’t honest. Only later did she start talking. Because she said if she caused any trouble, she would be beaten severely,” Melanie added. YTR suffered serious injuries, including being unable to see normally, a cleft lip, difficulty speaking, and an inability to walk. The victim is still receiving intensive care at Hasan Sadikin Hospital in Bandung City.
