A woman has gone viral on social media after allegedly attempting to sell fake gold at a jewellery shop in Pamulang, South Tangerang, Banten. The woman’s actions were discovered after shop staff checked the authenticity of the gold. In the viral video, the woman suspected of trying to sell the fake gold is seen sitting inside a jewellery shop. Shop staff are seen continuously recording the woman. The video also shows police officers questioning the woman suspected of attempting to sell the fake gold. Officers are also asking the shopkeeper about the chronology of events. Ciputat Timur Police Chief Kompol Bambang Askar Sodiq confirmed the incident. He stated that the event in the video took place in the Pamulang area. However, he said the perpetrator did not manage to sell the gold because the shopkeeper had already identified it. After being examined by Pamulang Police officers, it was discovered that the woman had previously carried out the same act in the Ciputat area and had been reported to the police by the victim, the owner of a jewellery shop in Ciputat. “So this incident occurred in Pamulang. She came to a jewellery shop that is under the same management as the Ciputat shop,” Bambang said when confirmed on Friday (3/7/2026). Bambang explained that when the woman struck at the Pamulang jewellery shop, the shopkeeper realised she was the same person who had previously sold fake gold to the Ciputat shop. The characteristics obtained from CCTV footage at the Ciputat shop showed similarities with the woman. “The Ciputat jewellery shop has CCTV footage and all the supporting evidence. So, they warned their shop staff that if this person comes to sell, please refuse her or report it to the police,” Bambang revealed. Pamulang Police officers moved to secure the woman after receiving a report from the gold seller. The perpetrator was then handed over to the Ciputat Timur Police. “When she arrived a few days ago in Pamulang, they thought, ‘Hey, this person looks like the one with the characteristics described by the Ciputat jewellery shop’. At that point, they immediately confirmed with the Ciputat shop, who said, ‘Yes, that’s right’. She was then secured and taken to the Ciputat Timur Police station, arrested, and handed over,” he continued. The case of selling fake gold in Ciputat occurred around June 2025. After learning the perpetrator had sold fake gold, the Ciputat jewellery shop immediately filed a police report. The woman’s spree ended when she attempted to sell fake gold at the shop in the Pamulang area. The woman is currently undergoing intensive examination at the Ciputat Timur police station.
