Woman found murdered in South Jakarta hotel with face covered by t-shirt

A woman with initials L, aged 20, was murdered in a hotel in Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta. The victim was found lying on the floor with her face covered by a t-shirt. “The victim was found by hotel staff lying on the floor with blood present and her face covered by a t-shirt,” said Commissioner Budi Hermanto, Head of Public Relations for Jakarta Metropolitan Police, in a statement on Saturday (30 May 2026). The victim’s body was discovered by hotel staff on Friday (29 May) at approximately 1pm WIB, with the discovery subsequently reported to police. “Officers then conducted a crime scene examination and identified the victim’s body,” he added. Murder confirmed: “The murder has been confirmed and the suspect has been detained by the Jatanras subdirectorate of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police’s Criminal Investigation Directorate,” said Budi Hermanto. Commissioner Budi Hermanto has not yet provided details regarding the victim’s identity or the murder’s timeline, stating the suspect is currently undergoing intensive questioning at the Jakarta Metropolitan Police headquarters. “The suspect remains under questioning,” he added. The victim’s body was found on Friday, 29 May, at around 1pm WIB. The case came to light after security checked the room the victim had rented since Thursday, 28 May. The victim was found with head injuries.
