Woman Found in Car Driven Recklessly Against Traffic in Central Jakarta
The driver of a black Toyota Calya, identified as HM (24), who was driving recklessly and caused multiple collisions in Gunung Sahari, Central Jakarta, was not alone. A woman was with him at the time. Who is she?
“According to initial statements, she is his girlfriend,” said the Head of Traffic at the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Kombes Komaruddin, when contacted by detikcom on Thursday (26/2/2026).
Komaruddin has not yet been able to confirm the woman’s identity. This is because the woman did not have any identification on her.
“This woman did not have any identification at all,” he added.
According to police, the driver, HM, stated that they had initially travelled from Surabaya. They had stayed overnight in Karawang.
“According to his statement, they left from Surabaya, stayed overnight in Karawang, and then went for a drive towards Ancol,” he said.
Police are currently investigating the motive behind HM’s reckless driving and driving against traffic. The suspect has undergone a urine test, but the results were negative.
“The urine test results were negative, but four pairs of different license plates were found in the car,” he said.
The four pairs of license plates include two B plates, one G plate, and one B plate. Police are currently investigating the ownership of these license plates.
“We are still investigating the authenticity of the license plates, but it is clear that they were not used for their intended purpose,” he added.
The incident occurred on Wednesday (25/2). The driver, HM, was initially driving recklessly on Jalan Gunung Sahari.
Police pursued the car because it was suspected of using fake license plates. Instead of stopping, the driver sped up, drove against traffic, and ended up colliding with several vehicles.
The suspect is currently being held at the Jakarta Metropolitan Police. Police are still investigating the suspect’s statement.
