Woman Found Dead in West Jakarta Was Murdered by Husband, Suspect Arrested
Police have launched an investigation into the death of a woman named Muzalipah (52), who was found with head injuries at a boarding house on Jalan Makaliwe, Grogol Petamburan, West Jakarta. The suspect has now been arrested.
"This case will be handled professionally, objectively, and thoroughly. The entire process is conducted based on facts and evidence obtained by investigators to provide legal certainty," said Polda Metro Jaya Head of Public Relations, Commissioner Budi Hermanto, to reporters on Thursday (30/7/2026).
The incident allegedly began when Muzalipah visited the suspect’s rented room. The two then became involved in a dispute, and the suspect struck the victim with a hammer, resulting in her death.
"E was apprehended around 11.30 p.m. WIB in the Cilandak area, South Jakarta," said Polda Metro Jaya Sub-directorate of Mobile Investigation Head, AKBP Resa Fiardi Marasabessy.
Police have secured a number of items as evidence, including a hammer, two mobile phones, a bag, a wallet, jewellery, cloth, a hat, gloves, and a motorcycle. All evidence has been secured for investigative purposes.
"Subsequently, the individual was taken to Sub-directorate 3 of the Mobile Investigation Unit at the Polda Metro Jaya Criminal Investigation Directorate to undergo further legal proceedings," Resa stated.
The suspect is the victim’s husband.
Meanwhile, West Jakarta Metro Police Head of Public Relations, AKP Wisnu, confirmed that the suspect is the victim’s husband. "Yes, that is correct," Wisnu said when contacted separately.
The police received a report on Wednesday (29/7) at 6.50 p.m. WIB. The discovery of the victim began with blood dripping down to the first floor of the boarding house.
"At the time of the report to the police 110 call centre, a neighbour on the first floor reported blood dripping from above. Upon this discovery, residents reported it to the local neighbourhood and community unit heads," said Grogol Petamburan Police Chief, AKP Reza Aditya, when contacted on Thursday (30/7).
Police are still gathering evidence and witness statements at the scene. The victim’s body has been transferred to the Kramat Jati Police Hospital in East Jakarta for further procedures.
"We are still collecting evidence, the available evidence, and we are also still taking statements from the witnesses," he said.
