Woman Found Dead as Skeletal Remains in Depok Lived with Unregistered Husband
Depok — A 56-year-old woman identified as DH was found dead, with her skeletal remains discovered at her residence in the Meruyung area, Limo District, Depok. The victim had been living with an unregistered husband, though his current whereabouts remain unknown.
“The victim lived with her unregistered husband on a daily basis, however the whereabouts of the unregistered husband are currently unknown,” said Cinere Police Station Commander Kompol Chairul Saleh when contacted on Monday, 9 March 2026.
The body was discovered when the victim’s daughter, identified as L, and her partner, R, came to the house in February 2026. They intended to clean the house after hearing that the victim had travelled to Sukabumi, West Java.
Upon arrival, the gate to the victim’s house was locked from the outside. “R forced open the lock; after successfully opening it, witness L and R entered through the house door, which was unlocked,” Chairul explained.
Inside, the two found the house in disarray with piles of clothing scattered on the floor. This prompted L and R to decide to clean the outdoor area first before entering the house interior.
L and R returned to the house on Friday, 6 March 2026 at approximately 23:00 local time and fell asleep in the living room. The following morning, L and R divided cleaning duties between the kitchen, living room, and bedrooms. R was assigned to clean L’s bedroom.
Whilst attempting to collect piles of clothing from the floor into plastic bags, R removed a carpet covering and discovered a pair of human feet with visible bones and desiccated skin underneath.
“When R uncovered the carpet on top of the pile of clothes, he saw a pair of human feet already reduced to skeletal condition with dried skin,” Chairul stated.
The victim’s remains were covered with coffee powder. R immediately contacted local community leaders and Cinere Police Station for further action.
Police are currently conducting witness interviews and performing an autopsy at Kramat Jati Hospital.
